My Saab story is probably very similar to many out there, so I'll try to make this short & sweet. It all started back in the late 80's when a buddy of mine pulled up in a Black SPG at my High School back in Queens, N.Y... WoW!! Do you believe, in Love at First Sight? I do...
At 17, I was so convinced that there was never going to be another car brand for me, and I was right. I mean, the paint on this beauty of a beast was like a foot thick, it shined like a lovers eye, and lets not even mention the Body Kit and 15" SPG Wheels mounted on Pirellis; so sexy, so intriguing, so unique. The smell of the Buffalo Grey leather interior still present in my memory, the scooped windshield, the Clarion Stereo, the way it tracked the road. This was the 'Real Deal' & Nothing out there came close... we had a first-class cabin cockpit, a Turbo engine & bragging rights that have carried on until today. Then in 1991 I bumped into another friend, he had just gotten his hands on a Talladega Red SPG, same story, different color, but this one had the turbo tweaked, the cranked PSIs made it literally fly and feel like it was being propelled by something much larger than the 2.0L. I was sold for life!
So now what? In love with a machine I couldn't afford, a young mans desire to become one with his fantasy. Lets think back & remember, these machines carried a price tag of about 40 grand, but... I had a dream! and made it a point to one day be a proud owner of a turbo beast. Then finally in 1993 my dream came true, my first Saab, a 1988' 9000 Turbo, Edwardian Grey with a 5-speed tranny. Not only was my 9000T roomy & comfy but it was killer fast & there were very few other cars out there that could hang within the midrange boost power that this car delivered. I enjoyed the 9000 until 1997, NYC Brownies were killing me with parking tickets. The 9000T was another great Saab and fortunately for me many more Saabs followed like the 9-5 I leased in 99'. At the turn of the century the Silver Metallic 9-5 was 'like whoa', I say no more.
As a die hard loyal enthusiast, previous & current owner of c900's, convertibles, 9000T's, 9-3OG's, 9-3SS & 9-5's I am committed to help keep SAAB cars on road & you will find that I conduct my business within the most possible ethical ways. Furthermore, Saab VIP will Not dismantle any Saab that is within a reasonable repairable state, from light rust, sludge, paint, beat up interiors to no top-down syndrome. Any opportunity to repair a Saab will be taken and eventually a new home will be found for it.
